Moonlighter 2: The Endless Vault Moonlighter 2 Side Quests
Over a dozen optional tasks across Kalina, Gallery, and Aeolia with unique weapon and material rewards.
Side quests in Moonlighter 2: The Endless Vault are optional tasks given by named townspeople, dungeon customers, and shop visitors. They sit alongside the main loop of dungeon diving, relic pricing, and Vault gold. Most unlock after you have been running and selling for a while; a few require specific boss trophies or Vault milestones. Completing them drops new weapons, crafting materials, and shop upgrades. There are over a dozen in the live 1.0 build. This page maps every one to its giver, its gate, and its reward. Biome secrets and hidden treasure riddles are on Hidden Treasures. Dungeons covers the rooms these quests reference. The walkthrough puts the bosses in story order.
The game is single-player. There are no redeem codes. No quest requires typing a string. You walk, you complete the task, you collect.
Andrei’s quests — the blacksmith’s crafts
Andrei is the town blacksmith east of the Merchant’s house in Tresna. He handles weapon crafts and armor sets. His quests unlock named weapons that the generic Merchant line does not cover.
Old Days, New Tech — Given after your first Herald clear. Andrei asks you to bring him Herald’s Sound of Hubris trophy. Return it and he teaches you the Sun and Moon Ballad gauntlets. This is one of the two trophy crafts that gates a top-tier weapon. The other gauntlet craft is Heartbeat Hunter from Eris’s hidden treasure.
Souls Forever Lost — Unlocked after you have visited Aeolia and have both King’s Masks (Senda’s Left and Monte’s Right). Julien directs you back to Andrei, who forges the Ray Axe spear. This is the spear counterpart to Sun and Moon Ballad. Both are endgame-class weapons that require multiple boss trophies and a Vault II+ progression state.
Souls Forever Lost 2 — The second chapter of the same quest chain. Andrei asks for additional materials after Ray Axe is forged. Completing it fully upgrades the Ray Axe recipe to its final form. Do not confuse this with the first Souls Forever Lost; the game flags both under the same NPC conversation.
Andrei’s standard armor sets unlock by defeating minibosses in each biome: Kalina, Gallery, and Aeolia each have their own. Those are not separate quests — they trigger automatically when you clear the relevant miniboss and return to town.
Eris’s quests — the witch and her riddles
Eris sits at the witch hut south of the main shop floor. She handles potions, health upgrades, and the Onyx Cauldron at Vault II. Her side quests are short errands that pay out crafting materials or small gold bonuses.
Eris’s Errand — A general task that tasks you with collecting a specific material from a dungeon run. The material changes each time the quest regenerates. Completing it pays gold and a potion upgrade. This is the most repeatable of Eris’s tasks.
Eris’s Riddle — Given after Vault I and again after Vault II. Eris hints at a hidden treasure location with a riddle. The solution always points to a specific room on a specific map where a portal hides behind a breakable or a fork most players walk past. Solving it rewards crafting recipes or weapons. Full riddle-to-reward maps are on Hidden Treasures.
Julien’s quests — the portal keeper’s errands
Julien appears after Vault II (50,000 lifetime gold) once you pay 500 gold to free the Weird Prisoner from the town board. He handles backpack patches and portal-related tasks.
The Weird Prisoner — Pay 500 gold to free the prisoner from the board. This unlocks Julien himself and his patch system. Patches go on the backpack and provide found quality bonuses, deluxe chance upgrades, and extra chest slots at higher Vault ranks. It is a one-time payment, not a repeatable quest.
Souls Forever Lost — Same quest name as Andrei’s, but Julien acts as the quest director. He points you to Andrei for the actual weapon craft. Julien’s role is the narrative glue that connects boss trophies to the blacksmith’s forge.
Souls Forever Lost 2 — Julien’s follow-up after Ray Axe is complete. He asks you to return with additional Aeolia materials for the final upgrade. The reward is the max-rank Ray Axe recipe.
Julien’s patches sit on the backpack: found quality, deluxe chance, extra chests at Vault III and IV tiers. They are combat-adjacent because extra quality means extra gold, which funds more Eris ranks and Andrei crafts.
Shop customer quests — the counter tasks
After upgrading to Shop Level 2, customers occasionally approach the counter without an item, standing on the blue or white cloth to the left or right of the cash register. They ask for specific relics or materials. Delivering what they want pays gold and reputation. Failing or ignoring them costs nothing mechanically, but repeated deliveries improve the shop’s standing.
The Countess and Doña Guita also have short fetch quests that involve buying furniture or placing specific showcase arrangements. These are optional quality-of-life upgrades, not progression gates.
Babyl’s quests — the gallery gunner
Babyl sells guns and gadget items. His quest line ties to dungeon progression.
Babyl’s Request — Talk to Babyl after clearing The Gallery’s Curator boss. He asks about your experience in the museum and rewards you with the Blo-Beam crafting recipe. This is the gun that makes Thalaam and other flyers manageable. You must defeat Curator, not just explore the Gallery.
The Rectifier — Babyl offers this spear recipe after Curator, but it still needs Tyke’s Broken Rocket trophy to complete. Keep running Treasury Halls until the rocket drops. The Rectifier orbits heads defensively — useful for players who main spears and want an orbit variant.
Nou’s quests — the material vendor
Nou appears in south Tresna after you first meet him in a question-mark room inside a dungeon. He sells crafting materials at escalating prices. His quests involve returning with dungeon materials to prove your worth as a adventurer-merchant.
Nou’s Delivery — Nou asks you to bring him a specific material found in the dungeons. Completing it unlocks his material shop in Tresna. Once unlocked, he sells Sun Eaters, Echo Links, Oneiric Quartz, Oneiric Stones, Moon Flowers, and Echo Bonds at prices listed on the NPC page.
Nou’s Bulk Order — After you have been buying from Nou for a while, he occasionally asks for large quantities of a material at a discount price. Accepting pays less than regular sales but unlocks better stock or lower prices on future visits.

Which quests to do first
Priority order if you are working through the game for the first time:
- Andrei’s Old Days, New Tech after Herald — Sun and Moon Ballad is a top-tier gauntlet.
- Babyl’s Request after Curator — Blo-Beam makes Kalina Night and all flyer fights dramatically easier.
- The Rectifier after Tyke — a second spear option with orbit utility.
- Eris’s riddles as they appear — hidden treasure weapons are free power.
- Julien’s Weird Prisoner at Vault II — patches are permanent bag upgrades.
- Andrei’s Souls Forever Lost chain when both King’s Masks are in your inventory.
Do not try to complete everything on your first save. Some chains require late-game materials. Bank the trophies, keep running the dungeons, and return to the quest log when the Vault numbers support it. The Guides Hub is the index.
