Characters Hub

Moonlighter 2: The Endless Vault is single-player. There is no second player, no second hero, and no roster to gacha. The person you control is Will, the hero merchant from Rynoka. The person who ruined the last ending is Moloch. The place you rebuild is Tresna. Everyone else is an NPC with a shop, a quest, or a grudge. This hub is the cast sheet. Individual vendors, prisoners, and Bloblets sit on the NPCs page. How they sell and craft sits in Shopkeeping and Guides.

Will

Will is still the quiet shopkeeper who learned to kill gods with a broom. After the first game’s Watchers deal, prosperity lasts long enough for Moloch to seize the old dimensions and dump Will, Andrei, Tomo, Eris, and the rest into a desert trade hub they do not own. Will’s job in Tresna is the same loop with new teeth: dungeon at night, shop at day, gold into the Endless Vault, gold into friends’ counters. You do not pick a class at character creation. You pick a weapon at Andrei’s and a gun at Babyl’s. Will’s growth is gear, perks, potions, and backpack slots, not a level that says Rogue.

He talks more this time. The 1.0 story (released 2 September 2026) finishes the Tresna arc: why the Vault wants sales, whether home is still on the table, and what a merchant owes a town that is not Rynoka. Play him as a retailer who happens to roll. The game punishes the opposite fantasy.

Moloch

Moloch is the smooth operator who took the dimensions Will already looted and turned the victory lap into exile. He is not a weekly raid boss at the start. He is the reason Tresna exists as a cage with a market. Expect him in cutscenes, in other merchants’ fear, and in the Vault’s bargain. The Vault is not Moloch, but it is the device that answers exile with a gold quota. If a line of dialogue blames “the deal” or “the collector,” it is pointing at this mess, not at Ms Scratch’s rent.

You cannot recruit Moloch. You cannot play as Moloch. There is no multiplayer invasion. Treat him as story pressure while you stamp Silence Shells.

Tresna

Tresna is a dusty, crowded village of castaways from other dimensions. Compared with Rynoka it is larger, meaner, and more willing to sell you a backpack slot. The Moonlighter shop starts small. The Vault sits in the square and asks for lifetime gold. Around it:

  • Andrei at the Forge — weapons and armor.
  • Eris at the Witch Hut — potions and dungeon perk room.
  • Tomo at Trade Research — relic quality and Deluxe odds.
  • Babyl at the Workshop — guns.
  • Nou (with Anacard) at Silent Exchange — materials.
  • Ms Scratch / Doña Guita — landlady, voucher cosmetics, shop expansions.
  • Julien — patches, once you pay the portal.
  • The Countess — showcases and furniture.
  • Bloblets — shop companions after the Blob-Life update.
  • Masa — the pocket thief you free in The Gallery.
  • Weird Prisoner — the arm in the portal that becomes Julien’s entrance exam.

Hold F on the map to teleport between them; binds are on Controls. Gold gates that spawn new faces are on Vault unlocks.

How to read this category

“Players” on this wiki means characters, not a PvP ladder. Will is the player character. The rest are NPCs. If you arrived looking for a tier list of heroes, go to Weapons and Builds instead. If you arrived looking for who sells Sun Eaters, open NPCs.

Story spoilers on the NPC page stay light: where someone stands, what they sell, which quest names gate weapons. The 1.0 ending belongs in Updates and the walkthrough, not in a vendor list.

Will, Moloch, and Tresna are the triangle. Everything else is a counter you can hold F toward. For a review of whether that triangle works, see the Moonlighter 2 Review. For patch-by-patch cast additions (Bloblets, Spark, Greed Colosseum), see Updates.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the most common questions.

Can I play as anyone except Will?

No. Moonlighter 2 is single-player and Will is the only playable character. Other names are NPCs, villains, or companions.

Is there multiplayer in Tresna?

No. Friends cannot join your shop or your dungeon. The town is full of NPCs, not other players.

Who is Moloch?

The interdimensional operator who seizes the old dungeons and strands Will's crew in Tresna. He is story pressure, not a starter boss.

Where is the full NPC list?

On the NPCs page: Andrei, Eris, Tomo, Babyl, Nou, Ms Scratch, Julien, the Weird Prisoner, Bloblets, the Countess, and Masa.

Does Tresna replace Rynoka?

For this game, yes. Will is exiled from Rynoka's victory into Tresna. The shop you build here is a new Moonlighter, not a copy of the first store.
