Moonlighter 2: The Endless Vault Moonlighter 2 Boss Rush
Perk rooms and bosses only: Kalina, Prison, Aeolia, and the mix.
Boss Rush is Moonlighter 2: The Endless Vault’s fast combat track. It arrived in the Blob-Life Balance update on 20 May 2026 and remains in version 1.0 (2 September 2026). Digital Sun described it as a dungeon mode with only perk rooms and boss fights: straightforward, short, and mean. You are not here to fill a backpack for tomorrow’s till. You are here to stack a path and survive a string of named fights. Patch notes live on Blob-Life. Biome homework still lives on Dungeons.
The game is single-player. A rush does not open a lobby. There are no codes that skip a boss. If you cannot read Rupture yet, stay on the story maps.
The four rushes
Blob-Life shipped one Boss Rush per dimension, plus a mix:
- Kalina — desert tells, Spike Flower muscle memory, Herald and Thalaam as the headline names
- Prison / The Gallery — museum security, floor current, Curator and Tyke
- Aeolia — wind, platforms, Senda and Monte
- Interdimensional — a mix of the three, unlocked as the ultimate combined challenge
Prison is the notes’ name for The Gallery’s lock-up identity. If a menu says Prison and the wiki says Gallery, it is the same dimension. Story trophies (Sound of Hubris, Alabaster Candle, Quantum Core, Broken Rocket, King’s Left Mask, King’s Right Mask) still drop from the story boss doors on a normal run. Treat Rush as a combat exam, not as a farm route for those trophies unless the live build clearly pays them. When in doubt, beat the story boss on the walkthrough path first, then come here to practice the arena.
Interdimensional is the dessert. Clear the three dimension rushes before you expect the mix to make sense. A merchant who has never seen Gallery current will not learn it in a blender.
Perk rooms, then bosses — no full relic route
A normal dungeon is a radar of relic rooms, material rooms, minibosses, vendors, and a unique boss. Boss Rush strips the relic route. You walk perk pedestals and then you fight. That is the whole pitch: fast, straightforward, challenging.
What that means in practice:
- You will not bank a Perfect-stamp bag for shopkeeping. Do not enter a rush because Vault I needs 10,000 gold. Sell Kalina commons for that.
- You will stack a path in a hurry. Thunder, Hex, Poison Path (Blob-Life: a short DoT that ramps each tick), and later Bomb Path (1.0) all want shrines. Rush is where those decks get a clean test without Burn tiles eating a Legendary.
- Backpack smash still matters. Several bosses only drop shields when you smash Rupture objects. The Blob-Life developer update mid-page is the patch that added this mode. Named smash fights and trophies sit on the boss guide. The same Rupture habit shows up on Herald cannons, Curator current, Tyke chaos, Senda’s fan, and Monte’s platforms.
- Guns still cover flyers. Blo-Beam after a Gallery story run is the gun you want in Prison rush. Blob Gun will feel like a joke on Thalaam.
- The pendant can still send you home. A wipe still hurts. On standard difficulty, death halves quality on whatever you were carrying; on a relic-light rush that cost is small, but the run is still over. Hardcore is a separate 1.0 toggle. Do not turn it on to “see the rush.”
Because the mode skips full loot pathing, it is a poor Bloblet-rescue farm. Bloblets want dungeon tasks on normal maps: 10 Kalina, 10 Gallery, 10 Aeolia. Hunt pets on the story radar. Hunt bosses here.
Loadouts that survive a rush
Bring a finished combat identity, not a tourist broom.
- Short sword — Starsign Horn is the Blob-Life aspect; Merchant’s Sword is still the teacher. Finishers and Rupture smashes matter more than a fancy name.
- Large sword — Protocol Breaker is the May 2026 toy. Aetherium Heart remains the class star once Aeolia is open.
- Spear — Dreampiercer from Blob-Life, Rectifier after Curator, Ultimates after Vault IV.
- Gauntlets — Single Strike from Blob-Life. Sun and Moon Ballad after Thalaam. Heartbeat Hunter is greed; skip it if you cannot roll.
- Gadget — Blo-Buddy flies and shoots. It helps. It does not replace melee.
Perk bias: Poison Path if you can restack a short ramp; Hex if Vault II is done; Bomb Path if 1.0 shrines appear; Thunder as the old reliable. Nimbus Regalia’s broken-shield damage window is spicy in a rush and suicidal if you have not learned the tells. Rankings: Builds and Weapons.
Very Hard is the difficulty Blob-Life added for people who already clear Hard. It is a slider, not a fourth rush. Easy, Normal, Hard, and Very Hard can be changed in the menu. Pick the one that lets you practice smashes instead of watching a health bar evaporate.
When to run Boss Rush versus a real dungeon
Run a story dungeon when you need relics, materials, Bloblet tasks, or a trophy. Kalina flowers still drop Sun Eaters. Gallery still gates Blo-Beam. Aeolia still petrifies stock into Aetherium you must absorb. Those jobs are on Dungeons and the walkthrough.
Run Boss Rush when:
- You already know the boss tells and want a tighter fight.
- You want to test Poison Path, Hex, or Bomb Path without babysitting Burn and Shock tiles.
- You are chasing the Blob-Life combat achievements tied to the Kalina, Gallery, Aeolia, and Interdimensional ultimate challenges.
- You have a night with no patience for shop setup and still want to swing a sword.
Do not run Rush as your gold plan. The Endless Vault still wants lifetime sales. Published gold gates stay 10,000 / 50,000 / 120,000 / 200,000 / 500,000 for I–V, with VII at 300,000 in one shop day. Vault VI is a Blob-Life narrative key with no published lifetime number. None of those numbers care how many rushes you survived. They care what you stamped. Vault unlocks for the table. Endless Vault for the story of the cube.
Greed Colosseum (Vault V, Greed and Glory) is a different post-boss wave mode. Do not mix the names. Colosseum is greed after a story boss. Rush is a separate playlist of perk rooms and bosses.
If you only take one habit from this page, take this: smash on purple, leave relic greed at the door, and go back to a real map when Jane, Andrei, or the till is the actual goal. Index: Guides Hub.
