Moonlighter 2: The Endless Vault Moonlighter 2 Boss Guide
Smash windows, trophies, and the six story bosses before Moloch.
Moonlighter 2: The Endless Vault is a single-player dungeon crawler. The six story bosses sit at the ends of Kalina, The Gallery, and Aeolia. Moloch is the reason you are in Tresna; the 1.0 plot (2 September 2026) finishes that argument after the cube is fed. This page is the fight sheet: smash windows, trophies, and which gun you want in the room. Story order lives in the walkthrough. Perk-and-boss gauntlets without a full relic route live in Boss Rush.
Every fight uses the same grammar. Deal damage until the target Ruptures — a purple-black glow, usually around half health — then backpack smash. Several shields only drop when you smash a ruptured object into the boss, not when you empty an HP bar. There is no stamina. Roll forever. The pendant sends you home; death halves relic quality. Leave if the bag is already a win.
Kalina — Herald, then Thalaam
Herald is the Day finale. Cannons spit ruptured objects. Smash those into the shield, then cut the body between fire waves. Trophy: Sound of Hubris. That piece unlocks later spear and unique crafts at Andrei. If you wipe, quality halves — pendant out of trash maps rather than donating stars to the sand. A short-sword or spear is enough. The Old Broom works; it is just slower.
Thalaam is the Night finale and a flyer. Bring the gun. Roll stampedes, then smash purple balls in the last shield phase. Trophy: Alabaster Candle, which feeds the Sun and Moon Ballad gauntlets after Andrei’s Old Days, New Tech (itself gated on Herald). Gallery Exhibition before Thalaam is the smoother route, because Babyl offers Blo-Beam after a Gallery run and flyers melt to a beam.
Kalina minibosses drop the first armor set. Smash Spike Flowers on Day for Sun Eaters and Night flowers for Moon Flowers. Those materials no longer clog the backpack.
The Gallery — Curator, then Tyke
Patch notes and Boss Rush menus also call this dimension Prison. On this wiki the story floors are Exhibition Wing and Treasury Halls — the same biome.
Curator ends Exhibition. Jump the floor current, hit after the light tell, smash the purple lower section, then smash ruptured throws into the shield. Trophy: Quantum Core. Talk to Babyl after this run for Blo-Beam and for The Rectifier spear recipe (still needs Tyke’s rocket). The mid-page video is this arena.
Tyke ends Treasury Halls. Trophy: Broken Rocket. Smash still matters. Side rooms hide Masa and Eris’s Hidden Treasure (Heartbeat Hunter gauntlets). Echo Links drop here. Denser robots, denser current. If your bag is full of Overcharged relics with no battery, pendant before the door — a dead epic is worse than a missed trophy attempt.
Aeolia — Senda, then Monte
Senda in Zephyr Fields drops King’s Left Mask (Aetherium Heart large sword; Julien hands the recipe after you have visited Aeolia). Gun the spin, smash the purple fan. Never end a run with Aetherium still seated; crystals left in the bag are destroyed.
Monte on the stingray in Harrowing Heights drops King’s Right Mask (Ray Axe after Julien’s Souls Forever Lost 2). Platform smash phase: three tiles, lightning tells, ruptured balls into the shield. Blo-Blaster is an Aeolia hidden treasure — finish that quest before you retire the dimension.
Both masks want to sit in Andrei’s inventory, not on the dungeon floor. Nou sells Oneiric Quartz and Stones once you have found them. Buy gaps between attempts; do not skip the air fights entirely.
Moloch, Colosseum, and Rush
Moloch is not a weekly raid at the start of the file. He is the collector who seized Rynoka. 1.0 lets you finish that story after the Vault line. Treat cutscenes as the reason the cube exists; treat the six biome bosses as the gear gates. Do not expect a seventh biome. 1.0 did not add a fourth dungeon world.
Greed Colosseum (after Vault V / the fifth key) is a post-boss wave gauntlet. Fail it and backpack relic quality halves. It is not a story boss with a named trophy in the same sense as Herald.
Boss Rush (Blob-Life) is Kalina, Prison, Aeolia, and an Interdimensional mix: perk rooms plus bosses, rewards weapon aspects. Use it to practice smash without a full relic route. Hardcore is a different 1.0 toggle — a dungeon death restarts the journey. Practice here first.
Loadout habits that actually matter
- Smash on Rupture. If a shield is still up, look for a purple object, not a longer combo.
- Gun for flyers (Thalaam, air phases). Melee refills ammo.
- Potions from Eris before a first attempt, not after a wipe.
- One melee identity from builds. Bomb Path (1.0) marks and detonates; it is a perk branch, not a fifth class.
- Leave with the trophy. A greedy extra chest is how quality dies.

Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers to the most common questions.
How do I break a Moonlighter 2 boss shield?
Wait for Rupture — the purple glow — then backpack-smash the boss or a ruptured object into the shield. Emptying the HP bar is not always enough.
Which boss should I fight first?
Herald in Kalina Day. Then open The Gallery at Vault I, beat Curator for Blo-Beam, and take that gun into Thalaam at Kalina Night.
What do boss trophies unlock?
Named melee crafts at Andrei and Julien. Sound of Hubris, Alabaster Candle, Quantum Core, Broken Rocket, and the two King's Masks are the six you should never drop.
Is Moloch a dungeon boss like Herald?
Moloch is the 1.0 story antagonist who seized Rynoka. The six biome bosses are the gear fights. Finish the Vault line and the Codex quests for the plot.
Should I learn bosses in Boss Rush or in the story?
Story first if you need the trophy. Boss Rush if you only want smash practice without a full relic bag. Hardcore is not a practice mode.
