Moonlighter 2: The Endless Vault Relics Ranked
Biome chains, quality multipliers, and what actually belongs in the backpack.
Relics in Moonlighter 2: The Endless Vault are not swords you equip. They are loot that fights each other inside the backpack, then become shop stock in Tresna. A Legendary that never touches a quality tile is worse than an Uncommon you stacked to 80 quality. This page ranks relics by what they do in the bag, not by how pretty the Codex icon is. Stamp numbers live on the shop prices tool. Combat kits live on the Weapons and Builds lists.
There are three main biomes. Kalina burns. The Gallery shocks. Aeolia petrifies. Mixing biomes in one bag is possible; mixing their rules without a plan is how you delete a run.
Rarity versus quality
Rarity is the color band: Common, Uncommon, Rare, Epic, Legendary. It sets the Perfect Stamp price. Silence Shell is a 21-gold Common. Blob Shell is a 336-gold Uncommon. Legendaries sit in the low thousands before multipliers.
Quality is the number under the name. Each point adds about 5% to what the customer actually pays. Tomo’s research can make that multiplier stronger per rarity and can unlock Deluxe relics (diamond icon) that sell higher and boost quality effects. Deluxe does not survive a transform: if Aeolia petrifies a Deluxe into Aetherium, the diamond is gone.
Rule of thumb: spend backpack actions on the highest rarity piece that will still be a relic when you leave. Do not pump a Common you are about to burn as fuel. Do not ignore quality on an Epic just because the color already looks expensive.
Kalina: fire is a factory
Kalina (day and night) is the burn biome. Firewood is a cheap Common at a 42 stamp, but it is a core burn synergy piece. Scorch Flower (205) and Sun Bulb (220) are Uncommons you keep when they can raise neighbors instead of sitting in a dead corner. Eclipse Flower (152) and Brood Charm (168) are mid-bag keepers. Blackstone (115) is the first Uncommon many merchants overprice because it looks dramatic and is not.
Burn can destroy, raise rarity, or respawn a piece as something better. Read the tooltip before you nest a Legendary next to a lit Common. Silence Shell (21) and Sand Fruit (31) are filler unless a tile or a neighbor says otherwise. Starsign Summoner (52), Taalik Map (68), and Sun Claw (89) are Commons you sell unless a daily calendar heart is on Kalina.
Keep:
- Any Rare or better that can eat a burn upgrade.
- Firewood and Scorch Flower when you still have empty quality targets.
- Mother-line Uncommons and Rares (Gift, Call, Patience, Honor) when quality is already high.
Feed:
- Duplicate Commons.
- Broken chains that will not resolve before the next door.
The Gallery: shock twice, cry once
Gallery relics Shock. A shocked piece becomes Overcharged. A second shock destroys it unless you clean the status. Battery (52) is the Common that removes Overcharge; Broken Battery (26) is the junk version. Cable Knot (42) and Antique Camera (94) are Commons. Electrostar (131) is the first Uncommon people underprice.
Treat shock like a fuse. One spark on a Rare is a buff. Two sparks without a Battery is a voided Epic. Place Batteries as insurance, not as showcase bait. Electric Spearhead, Fancy Handle, and Piercing Tool are Uncommon tools; they are keepers when they point at a high-rarity neighbor and trash when they point at each other.
Keep:
- Battery if any shocked Rare or Epic is still in the bag.
- High-rarity tech pieces with a safe tile.
- Electrostar when quality can still climb.
Feed:
- Extra Broken Batteries.
- Overcharged Commons you cannot clean.
Aeolia: petrify, then absorb
Aeolia turns relics into Aetherium crystals of the same rarity. Aetherium left in the bag at the end of the run is destroyed. Do not sell it; do not bring it home. Absorb pieces eat adjacent crystals and add that quality onto a survivor. That is the whole biome: petrify fodder, absorb into one monster relic, leave.
Lost Hook (37), dolls, fans, and flight engines are Commons. Rattle Stick, Dream Catcher, and Magic Wand are Uncommon fillers. The money is the Absorb target: one Rare or Epic that inherits a pile of quality. If you cannot finish the chain before the boss door, stop petrifying.
Keep:
- The Absorb host.
- One or two petrify tools.
- Nothing that is already Aetherium when you take the pendant home.
Feed:
- Low rarity into crystals.
- Extra crystals into the host.
What to keep, always
- Highest rarity you can still sell. A Legendary with 10 quality beats a Common with 80.
- Quality stacked on that piece, not sprinkled across junk.
- Biome batteries (Firewood / Battery / Absorb host) until the chain is done.
- Calendar hearts. The Codex six-day calendar marks popular rarities or biomes. A heart is a multiplier; fill showcases with those relics that day.
- Quest materials and named drops. Sound of Hubris, masks, Quantum Cores, and Alabaster Candles are not shop filler.
What not to keep: Aetherium, Overcharged Commons, and anything you already know the stamp for if the bag is full and a chest is offering a higher rarity. Sliver sells backpack slots; buy them. A bigger bag is a better tier list than any single relic.
For Perfect Stamp numbers, use the shop prices table. For how those sales feed Vault gates, use Vault unlocks. Backpack tiling itself is covered in the Backpack guide. Return to the Tier List Hub when you need weapons and builds next to this page.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers to the most common questions.
Is rarity more important than quality?
Rarity sets the stamp. Quality multiplies it by about 5% per point. Stack quality on high rarity, not on Commons you will burn as fuel.
Should I sell Aetherium?
No. Aeolia Aetherium is destroyed if it is still in the backpack when the run ends. Absorb it into a real relic first.
What does Deluxe mean?
Tomo research can drop Deluxe relics with a diamond icon. They sell for more and boost quality effects, but transforms strip Deluxe.
Why did my Gallery relic vanish?
It was Overcharged and got Shocked a second time. Keep a Battery in the bag to clear Overcharge before the next spark.
Which Commons are actually useful?
Firewood in Kalina and Battery in The Gallery. Most other Commons are fuel or cheap stamps unless the calendar marks them popular.
