Moonlighter 2: The Endless Vault Moonlighter 2 Walkthrough

Story order from Tresna's first sale to the 1.0 vault finale.

Last updated:

Walkthrough

This walkthrough is a story-order route through Moonlighter 2: The Endless Vault 1.0. It is not a room-by-room script. Will is banished from Rynoka, Moloch holds the old dimensions, and Tresna is the shop town you rebuild. Digital Sun finished the plot on 2 September 2026. Use getting started if you have not opened the doors once. Use this page when you want the next boss, the next key, and the side crafts that gate unique weapons.

Gold numbers below are cumulative sales unless a line says single day. The cube does not charge a fee. Tables: vault unlocks and Endless Vault. Stamps: shop prices.

Tresna opening

Ms Scratch dumps you in Kalina. Finish the tutorial, pendant home, complete one shop day, then talk to Andrei. Merchant weapons cost four Sun Eaters after that loop. Pick a melee class and stay on it — weapons, combat. Hold F on the town map to teleport. Eris is south of the shop; Tomo is at the gate; Babyl sells the Blob Gun line; Nou appears in south town after you meet him on a ? room.

Open Kalina Day. Smash Spike Flowers for Sun Eaters. Clear the miniboss for the first armor set. Farm until lifetime gold hits 10,000. Do not wait for a perfect bag. Shopkeeping stamps (Silence Shell 21, Sand Fruit 31, Firewood 42) plus not dying will do it. Vault I: Merchant’s Grimoire and The Gallery.

Kalina Day — Herald

Route relic rooms until the bag can take a boss attempt. Herald is a smash fight: cannons spit ruptured objects, you backpack them into the shield, then cut the body between fire waves. Trophy: Sound of Hubris. That piece unlocks later spear/unique crafts at Andrei. If you wipe, quality halves — pendant out of trash maps rather than donating stars to the sand.

After Herald, keep Day as a Sun Eater farm while you prep Night. Tomo’s research (Grimoire) should start. Buy a backpack slot. Backpack burn/armor is the Kalina homework; do not walk into Night with a bag that self-immolates.

Kalina Night — Thalaam

Night flowers drop Moon Flowers. Thalaam flies. Bring the gun, roll stampedes, smash purple balls in the last shield phase. Trophy: Alabaster Candle (Sun and Moon Ballad gauntlets after Andrei’s Old Days, New Tech, which itself wants Herald done).

You can interleave Gallery as soon as Vault I is up. Many merchants clear Exhibition before Night. Either order works; Night’s flyer is easier with Blo-Beam, which wants a Gallery run, so Gallery Exhibition before Thalaam is the smoother route.

Exhibition Wing: shock relics, floor current, tasers. Minibosses drop Ancient Translators. Curator at the end: jump the current, hit after the light tell, smash the purple lower section, then smash ruptured throws into the shield. Trophy: Quantum Core. Talk to Babyl after this run for Blo-Beam and for The Rectifier spear recipe (still needs Tyke’s rocket).

Treasury Halls: Echo Links, denser robots. Side rooms hide Masa and Eris’s Hidden Treasure (Heartbeat Hunter gauntlets). Tyke drops Broken Rocket. Smash still matters. Watch the walkthrough video mid-page for the arena reads, then come back here for the trophy list.

Vault gold should be climbing through Gallery legend-quality stock even before Vault III’s pendant. Stamp Gallery commons (Broken Battery 26, Cable Knot 42, Battery 52) when the bag is full of tools you no longer need.

Vault II intermission — 50,000 gold

Hit 50,000 before you treat Aeolia as mandatory. Unlocks: Onyx Cauldron (Eris tier 2), Aeolia, first shop upgrade, Weird Prisoner. Pay the 500 gold. Julien’s patches go on the bag; first two slots are quality of life, later tiers (Vault III/IV) are deluxe chance and double chests.

Doña Guita / Ms Scratch: buy the floor. Countess: fill new showcases. K33P3R: extra Perkmeter if you have not. NPC roster if you lose someone on the map.

Aeolia — Senda, then Monte

Zephyr Fields: petrify/Aetherium, dolls, ziplines. Never end a run with Aetherium still seated. Senda drops King’s Left Mask (Aetherium Heart large sword; Julien hands the recipe after you have visited Aeolia). Gun the spin, smash the purple fan.

Harrowing Heights: Oneiric Stones, harder air. Monte on the stingray drops King’s Right Mask (Ray Axe after Julien’s Souls Forever Lost 2). Platform smash phase: three tiles, lightning tells, ruptured balls into the shield. Blo-Blaster is an Aeolia hidden treasure — finish that quest before you retire the dimension.

Nou now matters: Oneiric Quartz 2500, Oneiric Stone 5000, Echo Bond 5000 once found. Buy gaps between boss farms. Dungeons has the hazard list; this walkthrough only cares that both masks are in Andrei’s inventory.

Vault III and IV — legendaries and Ultimates

120,000: Luminous Pendant, tier 2 patches, third slot, Weapon Mastery. Start hunting legendaries; relics and builds reshape here.

200,000: Burning Hammer, second shop upgrade, tier 3 patches/potions, Ultimates. Craft the Ultimate for the class you mastered. 1.0 Endless aspects come after you are living in this gear, not before Herald.

Greed & Glory, then 1.0 finale

500,000 (11 March 2026 update): Greed Colosseum after bosses, HEX path, Blo-Blitz, Nimbus Regalia. Run Colosseum as a combat check, not as your first gold farm — see Greed & Glory.

1.0 closes Will’s Tresna story, adds Bomb Path, shop rank 5, extra Bloblets, Endless Void armor (Spark crits), Machine Gun gadget, Hardcore, and Vault VII: 300,000 gold in one shop day, then Infinite / golden repeats. Reviews also call that post-credits loop New Game Plus. Notes: version 1.0 and New Game Plus. Do the story quests the Codex flags before you grind VII; some recipes and Spark only appear when the plot says so. Named smash fights sit on the boss guide. Gold math sits on gold farming.

Hardcore is a second save, not a checkbox mid-walkthrough. Standard Easy/Normal/Hard can still be changed. There is no stamina. Soundtrack is Chris Larkin. Demo exists if a friend wants to test Steam Deck before $29.99.

If you skip around, the only hard gates are: shop+Kalina before Merchant weapons, Vault I before Gallery, Vault II before Aeolia and patches, Vault IV before Ultimates, Vault V before Colosseum, Vault VII before Infinite. Everything else is comfort. Index: Guides Hub. Tools: tools hub. Official links: wiki, links. Updates if a patch shuffles a quest name.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the most common questions.

What is the recommended boss order?

Herald (Kalina Day), Curator (Gallery Exhibition), Thalaam (Kalina Night) or Tyke depending on your gun, then Tyke if skipped, Senda (Zephyr), Monte (Harrowing). Gallery before Night Kalina makes Thalaam easier because Blo-Beam is in play.

When should I fight Herald?

After you have a Merchant weapon (four Sun Eaters, first shop plus Kalina) and a miniboss armor set. Herald is a backpack-smash shield fight, not a DPS check on the Old Broom.

Which side quests drop unique weapons?

Andrei's Old Days, New Tech leads to Sun and Moon Ballad. Julien's Souls Forever Lost 2 plus Monte's mask crafts Ray Axe. Babyl after Curator plus Tyke's rocket crafts The Rectifier. Eris's Hidden Treasure crafts Heartbeat Hunter. Blo-Blaster is an Aeolia hidden treasure.

When does the story end?

Version 1.0 on 2 September 2026 concludes Will's Tresna plot. Vault VII (300,000 gold in one day) and the Infinite Endless Vault are the post-game loop after those quests.

Do I need to 100% each dungeon before moving on?

No. Unlock the next vault key, grab the boss trophy you need, and come back for materials. Pendant out of bad radars. Completionist crafts can wait until Ultimates and shop rank 5.
