Moonlighter 2: The Endless Vault Julien's Tailoring Patches

Backpack patches after Vault II: quality, guns, defense, chests, potions, rerolls.

Julien Patches

Patches are Moonlighter 2: The Endless Vault’s backpack passives. They are not clothing cosmetics and they are not Bloblets. Julien sews them at Tailoring after you pull him out of a hole. This page is the unlock plus the named list compiled from the live loop and public 1.0-era notes. Gold gates sit on Vault unlocks. How the bag mutates relics sits on Backpack.

The game is single-player. There are no codes that stitch a patch. You pay gold and dungeon materials. Version 1.0 (2 September 2026) kept Julien. Blob-Life’s Rival level 4 grew his counter; it did not replace this list.

How to unlock Julien

Patches are locked until Endless Vault Challenge II. That key is 50,000 lifetime gold. The cube does not take the gold. After the cutscene, a small portal appears south of the Moonlighter. An arm hangs out. That is the Weird Prisoner. Pay 500 gold. Julien, the old rival from Le Retailer, climbs out. Achievement text calls this Return of the Retailer.

Hold F on the town map once the icon exists. The bind is on Controls. Julien crafts patches that attach to the backpack. You start with two slots. More slots open as later Vault challenges complete (tier 2 stock at Vault III, tier 3 at Vault IV). Early Access notes said tier 4 was not implemented at launch; this wiki will not invent a fourth row. If 1.0 added extra slots on your file, equip what Julien actually sells.

Julien is also the vendor behind Aetherium Heart and later mask quests once Aeolia is open. Freeing Masa still wants that large sword. Do not treat Tailoring as only a DPS shop.

Tier 1 — Vault II

Costs below are the upgrade ladder as listed in public guides. First sew is cheaper; later ranks eat rarer boss junk.

PatchWhat it doesFirst sew (reported)
Twinkle TokenRelics found with extra Quality (+10, then +12, then +14)2,000 gold + 2 Oneiric Quartz
Goopy GazerGuns carry more bullets (+20% / +40% / +60%)2,000 gold + 2 Echo Bond
Strain SlashWhile gun ammo is not full, melee Attack up (20% toward 35%)2,000 gold + 2 Echo Link
Tough TraderTake less damage (10% toward 30%)2,000 gold + 2 Sun Eater

Twinkle Token is the merchant sew. Quality multiplies Perfect Stamps. Goopy Gazer and Strain Slash are for people who already live on Blo-Beam. Tough Trader is the Hardcore sew if you insist on that toggle, and the sensible sew on Very Hard. Tough Trader’s last ranks want Broken Mic and The Sound of Hubris (Herald). Do not rush those ranks before you can smash Rupture.

Tier 2 — Vault III (120,000 lifetime)

PatchWhat it doesFirst sew (reported)
Precision PulseGuns deal +30% damage5,000 gold + 2 Echo Link
Beating BoostRestore health when you enter a room (2 toward 10)5,000 gold + 15 Slime Shards
Lucky LootDeluxe relics more often (20% toward 35%)5,000 gold + 2 Oneiric Stone

Precision Pulse stacks with Goopy Gazer if you are a gun merchant. Beating Boost is the room-to-room bandage when Eris potions are still thin. Lucky Loot wants Tomo’s Deluxe research from Vault I; without Deluxe drops the patch is a shrug. Oneiric Stones are an Aeolia / Nou problem, so this row is not a Kalina toy.

Tier 3 — Vault IV (200,000 lifetime)

Vault IV is also the Burning Hammer for Andrei’s Ultimates. Julien’s third row lands in the same gold band.

PatchWhat it doesFirst sew (reported)
Mirror MarketChance for chests to appear in pairs (20% toward 35%)8,000 gold + 2 Moon Flower
Sunglass SaviorPotions heal extra (+5 toward +25)8,000 gold + 5 Slime Shards
Flaming FortuneStart with extra Reroll Dice (+3 toward +7)8,000 gold + 2 Oneiric Quartz

Mirror Market prints bags, which prints Vault gold. Sunglass Savior makes Eris matter more, not less — you still buy potion count. Flaming Fortune feeds perk rerolls on a build. Late Flaming Fortune wants The King’s Left Mask (Senda). Late Mirror Market wants Broken Mic. Those are story trophies, not Nou shelf items.

What to sew first

  1. Twinkle Token if gold is the bottleneck. Vault I is 10,000 lifetime; II is 50,000. Quality is how Commons stop being a joke.
  2. Tough Trader if rooms, not stamps, are killing you.
  3. Beating Boost once Vault III is up and Slime Shards exist.
  4. Gun patches only after Blo-Beam. Blob Gun plus Goopy Gazer is still Blob Gun.
  5. Leave Lucky Loot and Mirror Market until Deluxe research and a real bag habit exist.

Equip before a dungeon, the same way you equip a Bloblet before a shop shift. Patches do not replace a melee class. They do not stamp relics for you. They do not unlock Hardcore, Bomb Path, or physical editions.

If a spreadsheet from November 2025 disagrees with Julien’s live counter, 1.0 and Blob-Life both touched vendor ranks. Read the card in his stall. This table is a planning sheet, not a legal contract with the cube.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the most common questions.

How do I unlock patches in Moonlighter 2?

Reach Endless Vault II (50,000 lifetime gold), find the portal south of the shop, and pay the Weird Prisoner 500 gold. Julien then sells patches.

How many patch slots do I start with?

Two. More slots open as later Vault challenges complete. Early Access notes said a fourth tier was not in at launch.

Which Julien patch is best first?

Twinkle Token for shop gold via relic quality. Tough Trader if deaths are the problem. Gun patches wait until Blo-Beam.

Are patches the same as Bloblets?

No. Patches are backpack passives from Julien. Bloblets are shop companions from Zane Jane. Equip patches for the dungeon and a Bloblet for the till.

Do patches cost Vault progress?

No. You spend purse gold and materials. Lifetime Vault totals do not rewind when Julien sews.
