Moonlighter 2: The Endless Vault Weapons Ranked
Four melee classes plus guns, from the Old Broom to Endless aspects.
Moonlighter 2: The Endless Vault gives Will four melee classes and a gun slot. You do not swap characters. You swap how a combo, a special, and a backpack smash share a room. This list ranks kits after the 2 September 2026 1.0 launch: Merchant starters, quest weapons, Ultimates from Vault IV, Greed and Glory’s Blo-Blitz, and the Endless aspects. Pair it with the Builds Tier List and the Combat guide. Relic value is a different ranking; see Relics.
Ranks assume a normal difficulty run, not Hardcore. A weapon that needs a late recipe is marked so you do not wait for it on day one.
How the four classes feel
Short swords use a four-hit string. The last hit is a finisher. Merchant’s Sword pays you with a damage window after that finisher. Everlasting Fury leans on elites and bosses. Ultimate Short Sword is the skill-check: land the special finisher and a kill can grant infinite ammo for a few seconds. Endless Sword (1.0) wants you to stay in combo so the special becomes a multi-hit pierce.
Large swords are slow, wide, and honest. Merchant’s Large Sword cares about Sharpness. The Vow stops Sharpness spend at the cost of a drain. Aetherium Heart is the melee star: it answers the class’s downtime and is the tool that breaks Masa’s case in The Gallery. Ultimate Large Sword and the 1.0 Large Endless Sword add block, Sharpness, and counters. If you like committing to a swing, start here.
Spears are reach plus a second resource: spearheads. Basics plant them. The special recalls them through enemies. Merchant’s Spear is a teaching tool. The Rectifier turns returns into an orbit. Ultimate Spear homes and can bounce in a packed room. Endless Spear is greed: dump stored heads to turn basics into specials for a burst window. The Old Broom is a spear too; it is a joke until a trophy asks you to beat a boss with it.
Gauntlets are the fastest melee. Hits fill a meter. Specials hit harder, and a full meter is Berserk: more speed, more knockback, more chances to explode your own HP if you greed. Merchant’s Gauntlets extend Berserk. Sun and Moon Ballad is the A-tier payoff, double-tapping after Berserk. Ultimate Gauntlets stack extra special hits. Heartbeat Hunter is a glass-cannon quest pair: double damage taken in Berserk for a huge payout.
Guns never replace the melee button. They delete fliers, chip bosses, and cover the roll. Blob Gun is free. Blo-Beam is the S-tier laser. Blo-Blaster is a shotgun that gives up long range. Blo-Blitz (Greed and Glory, 11 March 2026) is dual pressure for players who already like to kite.
Ranked list
S-tier
Blo-Beam (gun). Best gun in the game. Range, damage, and upgrade room for capacity and reload. Craft after any Gallery run by talking to Babyl on the east side of Tresna. You do not need the boss kill; dying or leaving still counts as a run.
Aetherium Heart (large sword). The large-sword problem is downtime. This weapon solves it and still slaps. Recipe from Julien after you reach Aeolia; craft with the King’s Left Mask from Senda plus gold. Also required to free Masa.
Ultimate Spear. Homing returns and bounce in crowds. Unlocks with the Burning Hammer after Vault IV (200,000 gold). Andrei crafts it for 2,000 gold and four Moon Flowers.
Ultimate Short Sword. Infinite-ammo windows after a clean special finisher. Same Vault IV hammer. Cost is 2,000 gold and four Echo Links. Practice the finisher in Kalina before you take it into Tyke.
A-tier
Sun and Moon Ballad (gauntlets). Best gauntlets for most players. After Berserk, attacks hit twice for a short window. Recipe from Andrei’s Old Days, New Tech after Herald, then an Alabaster Candle from Thalaam.
The Rectifier (spear). Aggressive spear: returning heads orbit you. Recipe from Babyl after The Curator; material from the Police Jurisdiction quest (Tyke).
Blo-Blaster (gun). Huge close damage, weak at range. Hidden-treasure recipe in Aeolia. 2,000 gold and four Oneiric Stones.
Blo-Blitz (gun). Greed and Glory dual guns. Quest after Prison 2. Built for constant fire, not for sitting still.
Endless melee set (1.0). Endless Sword, Large Endless Sword, Endless Spear, Endless Gauntlets. Each rewrites the class special (pierce combo, block-counter, spend heads, greedy Berserk). Craft when the Vault and story allow; they do not replace learning Merchant moves.
Ultimate Large Sword / Ultimate Gauntlets. Hammer unlocks. Large sword costs Echo Links; gauntlets cost Oneiric Stones. Both are A because they ask you to already like the class.
B-tier
Merchant’s Sword, Large Sword, Spear, Gauntlets. Four Sun Eaters each after the first Kalina visit. This is the real starter menu. GameSpot-style advice still holds: large sword is the most forgiving early, short sword is the best teacher, gauntlets are the most mechanical, spear is the most positional.
Everlasting Fury (short sword). Free recipe after your first Kalina run; needs The Sound of Hubris from Herald. Boss-focused, not a room-clear monster.
The Vow (large sword). Hidden-treasure recipe in Kalina Day. Sharpness drain instead of spend. Fine if you already swing big.
Heartbeat Hunter (gauntlets). Eris hidden-treasure in the Gallery Exhibitor Wing. Double incoming damage in Berserk. Spectacular and fragile.
Combat Rod (spear). Masa reward. Orbiting heads. Worth crafting once the boy is free.
C-tier
Old Broom. Already unlocked. Use it for the Nou / Anacard Weapon Mastery task (beat any boss with it; Herald is the kindest). Then put it away.
Blob Gun. Fine until Blo-Beam exists. Keep it only if you have not walked into The Gallery yet.
Unlock notes you will actually use
- Open the shop, run Kalina, buy a Merchant weapon for four Sun Eaters.
- Talk to Andrei after that run for Everlasting Fury’s recipe.
- Beat Herald, Curator, Tyke, Thalaam, Senda, and Monte as their biomes open; each gates a named weapon or material.
- Hit 200,000 lifetime gold so Vault IV hands Andrei the Burning Hammer. Gold is not spent on the challenge itself.
- Visit Babyl after a Gallery run for Blo-Beam. Visit Julien’s portal (500 gold to the Weird Prisoner arm) for patches and later Aetherium Heart.
If a recipe is missing, you are not underleveled. You are under-quested. Check NPCs and the Vault gold table before farming the same floor again.

Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers to the most common questions.
Which starter weapon should I craft first?
Merchant's Large Sword is the safest first craft. Short sword is the best if you want to learn finishers. You can buy the other Merchant kits later for four Sun Eaters each.
When do Ultimate weapons unlock?
Complete Endless Vault IV by earning 200,000 lifetime gold. The Vault does not take that gold. Andrei then crafts Ultimates with the Burning Hammer.
Is the Old Broom ever worth using?
Only for the Weapon Mastery task from Nou and Anacard, which asks you to beat a boss with it. Herald is the usual target.
How do I unlock Blo-Beam?
Finish any run in The Gallery (win, die, or leave), then talk to Babyl on the right side of Tresna for the recipe.
Do I need a gun and a melee weapon?
Yes. Melee is your room-clear identity. Guns cover air, range, and awkward angles. Blo-Beam is the gun to rush.
