Moonlighter 2: The Endless Vault Moonlighter 2 Materials Guide
Drop locations, Nou's prices, and the recipes each material unlocks.
Crafting materials in Moonlighter 2: The Endless Vault are essential for weapon upgrades, armor crafting, and recipe completion. Knowing where to find each material saves time and optimizes dungeon runs. Materials no longer occupy backpack tiles — they sit in a separate crafting inventory — so they never crowd out priced relics on the shop floor. This page lists every material, where it drops, how much Nou sells it for once unlocked, and which recipes it enters. Pair it with the weapons tier list and Andrei’s quest chain.
The game is single-player. There are no redeem codes. Materials come from dungeon runs, boss trophies, and Nou’s shop — not from typing strings into a chat.
How materials work
Each material has three states: raw drop from a dungeon chest or enemy, trophy from a boss fight, and purchasable from Nou once you have found it once. Nou’s prices are uniform once the material is unlocked: Sun Eater at 2,500 gold, Oneiric Quartz at 2,500, Echo Link at 2,500, Moon Flower at 5,000, Oneiric Stone at 5,000, and Echo Bond at 5,000. Boss trophies (Sound of Hubris, Alabaster Candle, Quantum Core, Broken Rocket, King’s Left Mask, King’s Right Mask) are one-time drops that stay in the inventory until spent at Andrei.
Tomo’s research after Vault I allows you to upgrade found quality. Julien’s patches add deluxe chance and extra chests. Both systems make material farming faster without changing where specific materials drop. Tomo’s upgrades become available as you progress through the Vault challenges; do not expect tier 2 research before Vault III.
Kalina materials — Day and Night
Sun Eater — Drops from Spike Flowers in Kalina Day when smashed. This is the primary material for Merchant weapon crafts. Andrei needs four Sun Eaters per Merchant-class weapon. Farm them on every Kalina Day run until you have a full kit. Sun Eaters do not drop in Night Kalina.
Moon Flower — Drops from Spike Flowers in Kalina Night. Equivalent to Sun Eaters for Night-themed crafts. Andrei’s Old Days, New Tech quest uses Herald’s trophy more than Moon Flowers, but Nou sells Moon Flowers at 5,000 once found. Do not confuse Spike Flower drops with generic relic finds — flowers are the dedicated material source.
Broken Mic — Drops from Kalina minibosses. Unlocks the first armor set at Andrei when you defeat a Kalina miniboss and return to town. This is automatic, not a separate quest — defeat the miniboss, talk to Andrei, the armor recipe appears.
Spike Flower — The material source, not a crafting ingredient. Break it on purpose during Kalina runs. Both Day and Night versions exist; Day drops Sun Eaters, Night drops Moon Flowers.
Gallery materials — Exhibition and Treasury
Echo Link — Drops from Gallery enemies in the Exhibition Wing and Treasury Halls. Used in mid-tier crafts and is purchasable from Nou at 2,500 once found. Gallery is the primary source until Aeolia opens.
Ancient Translator — Drops from Exhibition Wing minibosses. Part of the Gallery armor unlock chain alongside Echo Links. Like Kalina’s Broken Mic, it triggers automatically after a miniboss clear.
Quantum Core — Trophy dropped by Curator at the end of the Exhibition Wing. Used in the Rectifier spear recipe and other advanced crafts. Keep it until Andrei’s quest log asks for it. Do not sell it accidentally.
Broken Rocket — Trophy dropped by Tyke at the end of the Treasury Halls. Completes The Rectifier spear recipe alongside Curator’s Quantum Core. Tyke also gates Babyl’s The Rectifier craft.
Battery — A Gallery relic, not a crafting material, but frequently confused. Battery (stamp 52) is a shop item used to defuse Overcharged relics. Broken Battery (stamp 26) is a junk common. Do not waste battery slots on Broken Batteries.
Aeolia materials — Zephyr and Harrowing
Oneiric Quartz — Drops from Zephyr Fields enemies in Aeolia. Purchasable from Nou at 2,500 once found. Primary material for Aeolia-tier crafts and the Ray Axe spear chain.
Oneiric Stone — Drops from Harrowing Heights enemies in Aeolia. Purchasable from Nou at 5,000 once found. Higher tier than Oneiric Quartz. Both are needed for full endgame weapon crafts.
King’s Left Mask — Trophy from Senda at the end of Zephyr Fields. Required for the Aetherium Heart large sword craft and Andrei’s Souls Forever Lost quest chain. Senda must be defeated, not skipped.
King’s Right Mask — Trophy from Monte at the end of Harrowing Heights. Required for the Ray Axe spear craft alongside Monte’s role in the Souls Forever Lost chain. Keep both masks until Andrei asks for them.
Aetherium Heart — A crafted large sword, not a raw material. It is made from King’s Left Mask plus Aeolia materials at Andrei. The Aetherium Heart is notable because it is the tool used to free Masa from his glass case in the Gallery Treasury Halls.
Oneiric Core — Drops from Aeolia minibosses. Used in high-tier armor and weapon recipes alongside Oneiric Quartz and Stones.
Boss trophies — one-time drops
These six trophies drop from named story bosses. They do not repurchase from Nou. Keep every one until Andrei or Julien directs you to spend them.
Sound of Hubris — Herald, Kalina Day. Unlocks Sun and Moon Ballad gauntlets via Andrei’s Old Days, New Tech.
Alabaster Candle — Thalaam, Kalina Night. Used in Sun and Moon Ballad alongside Sound of Hubris.
Quantum Core — Curator, Gallery Exhibition. Enters The Rectifier spear recipe and advanced armor.
Broken Rocket — Tyke, Gallery Treasury. Completes The Rectifier alongside Quantum Core.
King’s Left Mask — Senda, Aeolia Zephyr. Gates Aetherium Heart and the Ray Axe spear chain.
King’s Right Mask — Monte, Aeolia Harrowing. Completes the Ray Axe spear chain alongside the Left Mask.
Nou’s material shop — prices and stock
After you first encounter Nou in a question-mark room and return to Tresna, he sets up in south town. He sells materials at these uniform prices once each material has been discovered at least once:
| Material | Price | Where to find first |
|---|---|---|
| Sun Eater | 2,500 | Kalina Day Spike Flowers |
| Echo Link | 2,500 | Gallery enemies |
| Oneiric Quartz | 2,500 | Aeolia Zephyr enemies |
| Moon Flower | 5,000 | Kalina Night Spike Flowers |
| Echo Bond | 5,000 | Gallery Treasury enemies |
| Oneiric Stone | 5,000 | Aeolia Harrowing enemies |
Nou’s stock is not infinite. He sells gaps between boss farms, not a replacement for dungeon runs. If you are 2,000 gold short of a craft, sell a relic and come back. Nou cannot fill a material shortage from nothing — you still need to have found the material at least once in a dungeon.
Material farming tips
Farm Sun Eaters on Kalina Day by smashing every Spike Flower. The Old Broom works; you do not need a named weapon. Bring the gun for the one flyer that will eat your melee uptime.
Farm Echo Links in Gallery by running Exhibition Wing on a day when the Codex calendar marks Gallery. Higher quality finds mean more gold, which funds the material purchases you cannot avoid.
Farm Oneiric Quartz and Oneiric Stone in Aeolia after Vault II. Petrify cheap relics into Aetherium for the absorb chain, then use the freed space for Oneiric drops. Never leave Aeolia with Aetherium still in the bag — crystals left at run end are destroyed.
Boss trophies are not farmable in the traditional sense. One attempt per boss per save. If you wiped on Herald and dropped the Sound of Hubris, reload. If you are past that point and the trophy is gone, check whether a Julien or Andrei quest consumed it automatically.

Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers to the most common questions.
Where do I get Sun Eaters in Moonlighter 2?
Smash Spike Flowers in Kalina Day. They drop Sun Eaters on hit. Nou sells them for 2,500 once found. Merchant weapons cost four Sun Eaters each.
What do I do with King's Left and Right Masks?
Keep both until Andrei's Souls Forever Lost quest chain asks for them. King's Left Mask crafts Aetherium Heart. Both masks together craft the Ray Axe spear.
Can I buy materials instead of farming?
Partially. Nou sells Sun Eaters, Echo Links, Oneiric Quartz, Moon Flowers, Echo Bonds, and Oneiric Stones once you have found each material at least once. Boss trophies are not purchasable.
Do materials take up backpack space?
No. Crafting materials in Moonlighter 2 sit in a separate crafting inventory and never occupy backpack grid tiles. Only relics use the backpack.
How do I get the Quantum Core and Broken Rocket?
Defeat Curator at the end of Gallery Exhibition for Quantum Core. Defeat Tyke at the end of Gallery Treasury for Broken Rocket. Both trophies enter The Rectifier spear recipe.
